China's drug safety situation remains stable in first eight months: regulator

Beijing, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) --

China's overall drug safety situation remained stable in the first eight months of this year, the country's drug regulator said Wednesday. A total of 320,000 adverse drug reaction reports were received during the period, down 12.8 percent year on year, according to the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

Among them,

serious adverse drug reactions accounted for 1.56 percent, down 11.7 percent year on year. No new major drug safety incidents were reported, the NMPA said.

The NMPA said

it will continue to strengthen drug safety supervision, improve the adverse drug reaction monitoring system, and increase law enforcement efforts to ensure the safety of drugs on the market.
